How it works
Stand-alone (no graft)
Step 1.
Carry out any repair of the native ligament first.
Step 2.
Undo the preformed loop on the Infinity-Lock 5mm tape.
Step 3.
Fix one end of the tape at the superficial (distal) insertion with an interference screw. A staple can be used instead, if there is a risk of clashing bone tunnels.
Step 4.
Drill a tunnel at the origin of the MCL, at the femoral medial epicondyle. Pass the corded tape end through the tunnel.
Step 5.
Tension the tape with the knee flexed at 30 degrees and neutral rotation and fix with an interference screw.
Step 6.
Suturing the Infinity-Lock 5 mm tape to the native MCL along the entire construct may be done for reinforcement.
Combined with graft as a brace line
Step 1.
Fix both the graft and tape in parallel in the tibial and femoral tunnels described above.
Step 2.
An all-suture anchor may be placed 1 cm distal to the joint line and the limbs passed through the graft and the Infinity-Lock tape and tied to recreate the deep MCL insertion site.
Step 3.
Suture of the Infinity-Lock 5 mm tape to the graft using Vicryl suture along the entire construct may be done for reinforcement.
