Overview
LSM Superscrews are cannulated titanium screws (Ti6Al4V, ISO 5832-3), self-drilling and self-tapping, in diameters of 2.7, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 6.5 and 7.2 mm for fracture fixation and arthrodesis. Cortical and cancellous, full- and partial-thread versions are available. They are inserted over a guide wire, are colour-coded by diameter and are supplied sterile in single packs. Washers and a single instrument set (SCR 100000) cover the whole range.
Features
- Self-drilling and self-tapping; cannulated drills and countersinks are in the set where preparation is needed.
- Cannulated for insertion over a guide wire: Ø 1.1 mm (2.7 mm screws), Ø 1.6 mm (3.5 and 4.0 mm), Ø 2.2 mm (4.5 and 5.0 mm) and Ø 3.5 mm (6.5 and 7.2 mm).
- Hexagonal socket: 2.5 mm (2.7 to 4.0 mm screws), 3.5 mm (4.5 and 5.0 mm) and 5 mm (6.5 and 7.2 mm).
- Colour-coded by diameter.
- Titanium washers, external Ø 7 to 19 mm, to increase the compression area; the technique recommends them in osteoporotic bone with the 6.5 and 7.2 mm screws.
- Supplied sterile, individually packed.
Indications
- 2.7 mm screws: hand and foot surgery, and small-bone fractures.
- 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 mm screws: fractures of the lateral malleolus, intra-articular fractures of the distal tibia, and fractures of the radius, ulna, olecranon, distal humerus and pelvic ring.
- 5.0 mm screws: metaphyseal fractures, tibial plateau, femoral condyle, distal tibial and malleolar fractures, and tibiotalar and subtalar arthrodesis.
- 6.5 and 7.2 mm screws: femoral neck fractures (including basicervical and subcapital), proximal femoral fractures with medial fragments, femoral condyle and tibial plateau fractures, and tibiotalar and subtalar arthrodesis.
