CoLink XP is a low-profile titanium plating system for the forefoot and midfoot. The indication-specific MTP, Lapidus and Y plates have a transverse hole for a lag screw that crosses the joint and compresses the fusion site, without a separate cross-joint screw. Universal and H plates and a revision MTP plate complete the range, using the same screws and instruments. The Lapidus, Y and universal plates are also known as Tarsalis plates.

Features

  • Transverse lag screw (3.0 mm) through the plate for mechanical compression across the fusion site.
  • MTP plate XP: 6-hole, with a laser mark for joint-line placement.
  • Lapidus plates XP in three sizes: standard, +1 mm and +2 mm.
  • Y plate XP for midfoot fusions.
  • Universal plates (2 to 6 holes) with an oblong compression slot, and H plates (small, medium, large) with a large central hole for radiographic visibility.
  • 3.0 and 3.5 mm locking and non-locking screws in every plate hole.
  • Low-profile, anatomic design in type II anodised titanium alloy, with a tapered edge designed to limit soft-tissue irritation.
  • Implants supplied sterile, with a single-use sterile instrument kit.

Indications

Stabilisation and fixation of fractures, revision procedures, joint fusion, osteotomies and reconstruction of the small bones of the hand, wrist, foot and ankle, in adult and paediatric patients.

The XP plates are designed for first metatarsophalangeal (MTP) fusion, first metatarsocuneiform (Lapidus) fusion and midfoot arthrodesis.

Contraindications are listed in the surgical technique and the instructions for use.

How it works

The plate is positioned over the joint, using the laser mark to find the joint line on the MTP plate, and held with olive wires. The distal screws go in first.

The transverse drill guide seats in the transverse hole, with its handle at 90° to the plate, so the 3.0 mm lag screw crosses the joint at about 40° to the plate. Tightening the lag screw compresses the fusion site; the remaining proximal screws are then inserted.

Instrument set

  • Driver handle and T8 driver.
  • Colour-coded locking and non-locking drill guides.
  • Transverse drill guide.
  • Cup and cone reamers (18, 21 and 23 mm) for MTP joint preparation.
  • Plate benders and depth gauge.
  • Trial plates for each plate shape.
  • Single-use sterile kit: drills, olive wires and guide pins.

Sizes and ordering

Implants are supplied sterile. All plate holes take 3.0 or 3.5 mm locking or non-locking screws; the transverse hole takes only the 3.0 mm transverse lag screw. Codes are from CONMED's CE-market catalogue (2025).

Product information

Which screws fit the plates?

Every plate hole takes 3.0 or 3.5 mm screws, locking or non-locking. The transverse hole takes only the 3.0 mm transverse lag screw (18 to 40 mm).

What are the plates made of?

Type II anodised titanium alloy.

How is the transverse screw length measured?

With the laser markings on the reamer and the drill guide, or with the depth gauge, subtracting 2 mm from the reading for the gap between the plate and the bone.
