The CoLink® Bone Graft Harvester is a minimally invasive, sterile, pre-assembled single-use device that morselises cancellous bone for use in fusion and fracture stabilisation procedures. It can harvest from the calcaneus, iliac crest, proximal and distal tibia, distal radius and distal femur.
Driven by a power reamer, the cutting tip morselises the bone into an inner collection trough, from which the graft is removed by sliding off the outer tube. Two outer diameters are available, 6 mm and 8 mm.
Features
- Sterile, pre-assembled, single-use kit.
- Cutting tip that morselises cancellous bone into chips for void filling.
- Inner collection trough that holds the graft, exposed by sliding off the outer tube.
- AO quick-connect end for a power reamer.
- Four laser-marked lines, 1 cm apart, to show the plunge depth.
- Two outer diameters: 6 mm and 8 mm.
Indications
Harvesting of cancellous bone from sites including the calcaneus, iliac crest, proximal tibia, distal tibia, distal radius and distal femur, morselised for use in fusion and fracture stabilisation procedures.
Contraindications are those of orthopaedic surgery in general, such as bone, muscle, tendon or adjacent soft tissue compromised by disease, infection or prior instrumentation, metal allergy, active infection in the joint, skeletal immaturity and diabetes. See the instructions for use.
How it works
- The harvesting site is exposed by standard techniques. For the calcaneus, the entry point is recommended inferior and posterior to the peroneal tendons.
- The AO quick-connect end is attached to a power reamer, and the harvester is advanced at low speed to the planned depth, staying in cancellous bone without breaching the opposite cortex. Four laser lines, 1 cm apart, show the depth.
- The device is removed from the bone. With the "UP" marks on the handle facing up, the handle legs are squeezed and the outer tube is slid off to expose the inner collection trough, which holds the morselised bone.
- For more graft, the outer tube is refitted and harvesting continues at 45° to the first entry point, or through a new cortical site.

Product information
How is the harvester driven?
It has an AO quick-connect end for a power reamer, used at low speed.
How is the graft removed from the device?
The outer tube slides off when the handle legs are squeezed, exposing the inner collection trough that holds the morselised bone. The tube can be refitted for further harvesting.
How is the harvest depth judged?
Four laser-marked lines, 1 cm apart, along the shaft show the plunge depth.
Can the void be filled?
CONMED's technique describes Tribio™ backfill plugs sized for the 6 and 8 mm voids. Contact Lavender Medical about their availability.
