Charcot neuroarthropathy can collapse the midfoot and hindfoot. Reconstruction realigns and fuses the foot, often in poor-quality bone, using superconstruct principles: fixation that bridges beyond the injured area and is as strong as possible.

Axis Beams are designed for Charcot reconstruction. The intramedullary fusion beams can be combined with an X-Clip for extra thread purchase, compression and stability in poor bone.

External fixation is used alone or alongside internal fixation:

  • Stylo Diabetic Foot fixator: a single-use sterile kit for stabilising the medial column of the first ray in Charcot deformity (Frykberg–Sanders patterns 1–2) and after treatment of metatarsophalangeal osteomyelitis.
  • ClickIt CF circular fixator: a sterile circular frame, with foot rings and foot-plate kits, for complex foot and ankle reconstruction in the diabetic foot.

Also known as: Charcot neuroarthropathy surgery, Charcot midfoot beaming
