CoLag® screws are cannulated, headed compression screws for foot and ankle surgery. Their proximal thread and head design gives what CONMED calls Compressive Stability: dual-lead distal threads for insertion, and a differential pitch between the distal threads and the threads under the head that compresses the fragments as the screw advances.
The low-profile head can be countersunk. The screws are self-drilling and self-tapping, with the insertion feel of a conventional headed screw, and Lavender Medical supplies the Ø 6.7 mm screws, 30 to 115 mm, which are also used as the compression screw with CoLink NeoFuse ankle fusion plates.
Features
- Head threads and head design that add compression and stability as the head seats.
- Differential-pitch threads for compression across the fracture or fusion site.
- Dual-lead distal threads for insertion.
- Low-profile head that can be countersunk; the head also eases removal if needed.
- Self-drilling and self-tapping.
- Ø 6.7 mm, 30 to 115 mm, compression or fully threaded.
- Washer for the 6.7 mm screw.
- Titanium alloy, each screw delivered sterile.
Indications
Internal fixation in the foot and ankle; the Ø 6.7 mm screw is used as the compression screw across the tibiotalar joint with CoLink NeoFuse ankle arthrodesis plates.
Indications, contraindications, warnings and precautions are listed in the instructions for use (IFU).
How it works
- A wire guide in the drill guide places a K-wire of the size for the chosen screw.
- The wire guide is removed and the depth gauge, passed over the K-wire inside the drill guide, gives the screw length.
- The cannulated drill is passed over the K-wire to the planned depth.
- The cannulated screw is inserted with the matching Torx driver shaft on the ratcheting handle. The distal threads advance faster than the head threads, compressing the bone segments; as the head threads seat in the near segment, compression increases until the head is fully seated.

Screw sizes
- Ø 6.7 mm: 30 to 115 mm, compression or fully threaded; T25 driver, 4.8 mm drill, 2.2 mm K-wire.
- Washer available for the 6.7 mm screw.

Sizes and ordering
Screws are titanium alloy and delivered individually in sterile packaging. Codes are from CONMED's CE-market catalogue (2025) and the CoLag surgical technique (SP-15004-03 Rev. D). Lavender Medical supplies the Ø 6.7 mm screws.

Product information
How do CoLag screws compress?
The leading threads are dual-lead and have a different pitch from the trailing threads under the head, so the screw compresses the bone segments as it advances. The threads under the low-profile head then add compression and stability as the head seats.
Can the head be countersunk?
Yes. The low-profile head can be countersunk, using the countersink for the screw diameter.
Is a fully threaded version available?
Yes. The Ø 6.7 mm screw is available as a compression screw and as a fully threaded screw, 30 to 115 mm.
Are the screws self-drilling?
Yes. They are self-drilling and self-tapping, with the insertion feel of a conventional headed screw.
What are they made of?
Titanium alloy (ASTM F136).
