Overview
Infinity-Lock™ 5 mm Tape is a synthetic open-weave polyester tape used for double-bundle reconstruction of the medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL). The tape is secured to the medial border of the patella with all-suture anchors at two points, so no tunnel is drilled through the patella; the two limbs of the tape are then passed to the femoral attachment point to form a double bundle.
Because the tape is synthetic, no autograft or allograft tissue is needed: the patient’s own tissue (the hamstrings, for example) is preserved, and no allograft is required. The implant is designed to combine strength, ease of handling, a low profile and long-term tissue incorporation.

Clinical evidence
Deo H, Mohamed R and Ahmed G (2023) reviewed 85 cases treated with this technique, with an average 4.8-year follow-up, and reported:
- Median Kujala score 82 (pre-operative 40)
- No re-dislocation
- No patellar fracture
- No knee stiffness
Minor complications occurred in 10.6% of cases and included medial knee pain, residual instability and superficial infection.

MPFL technique using Infinity-Lock 5 mm Tape: virtual model
Indications
Infinity-Lock Tapes are indicated for patients requiring soft tissue approximation and reconstruction of ligaments and tendons.
They are single-use devices intended for tissue approximation in orthopaedic procedures, including reconstruction of damaged or torn ligaments or tendons, according to the surgeon's own preferred technique and at their discretion.

How it works
Step 1. Two small incisions, medial border of patella and at femoral attachment point.
Step 2. Uses two all-suture anchors spaced along a shallow sub-cortical trough on the medial patella border.
Step 3. Two legs of Infinity-Lock tape are passed from the anchors to the attachment point, creating a double-bundle.
Step 4. Attachment point and tension checked before fixing.
Step 5. Securement on the femur is with a 6 mm interference screw.
