AktiBone™ Granules are a fully synthetic, resorbable bone substitute made of 45S5 bioactive glass, a ceramic of silicon, sodium, calcium and phosphorus oxides. They are used to fill, reconstruct or fuse bone defects and gaps in the skeletal system.

Indications
Filling, reconstruction and/or fusion of bone defects or gaps in the skeletal system, where autologous bone is not applicable or sufficient, in adults and children:
- Filling of surgical bone defects, such as autograft donor sites and trepanation.
- Fusion or reconstruction of deformities and degenerative bone conditions.
- Filling and reconstruction after resection of tumours, cysts or infection, and in prosthetic revision.

Preparation and use
- Mix the granules with normal saline, autologous bone, the patient’s blood or PRF (platelet-rich fibrin).
- Pack the graft into the defect with a saline-moistened swab.
- Slight overfilling of the defect is recommended.
