Arthritis of the thumb carpometacarpal (CMC) joint is commonly treated by removing the trapezium (trapeziectomy), often with a suspension or ligament reconstruction to support the thumb metacarpal. Some patients have a fusion instead.

  • BUTTONFIX-W (one button): holds the thumb and index metacarpals in alignment after trapezial resection, for CMC arthritis or instability, through a 1.5 mm hole.
  • FIBERKNOT: all-suture anchors (1.5 and 1.8 mm) for soft-tissue procedures such as CMC arthroplasty.

Also known as: Trapeziectomy, Suture button suspensionplasty, Thumb CMC arthroplasty, Thumb CMC fusion, Thumb CMC instability
