About Xiros
Xiros was founded in Leeds in 1982 by Dr Bahaa Seedhom; the name stands for “Innovative Research in Orthopaedic Surgery”. It designs, develops, manufactures and markets sterile textile implants of polyethylene terephthalate (polyester) for sports medicine and orthopaedics, made in-house at its UK manufacturing sites. It is based at Springfield House, Yeadon, Leeds, with about 120 staff, and has a North American company, formed in 2019.
Milestones include the launch of Poly-Tape in 1983, ISO 9001 approval in 1993, the first CE marking in 1995, AchilloCordPLUS in 2009, JewelACL in 2010, the Infinity-Lock Button System in 2016, FDA approval in 2018, the FlexPasser tendon retrieval kit in 2019 and Pitch-Patch in 2021. In 2023 JewelACL was CE marked as a class III device under the MDR.
