About Medin
MEDIN, a.s. is a Czech manufacturer of medical instruments and implants in Nové Město na Moravě. Its history goes back to the Chirana factory, whose production began in 1949 with dental burs; surgical instruments followed in 1950, and the first trauma implants for human use in 1991. MEDIN was established in 1992 as Chirana’s legal successor on privatisation, and began orthopaedic production in 2006.
The company works in four areas: traumatology, orthopaedics, surgery and dentistry. It holds ISO 9001 (since 1995), ISO 13485 (since 2004) and ISO 14001 (since 2008). More than half of its turnover comes from exports, mainly to Europe and the Near East, and it has subsidiaries in Slovakia and Poland and a training centre for surgeons and nurses.
