Lavender Medical, 646 Blackhorse Road, Letchworth Garden City, SG6 1HD

3D-Side designs and manufactures patient-specific instruments (PSI) from the patient’s own imaging, for knee osteotomy and foot and ankle surgery. The surgeon plans and validates the correction or implant position in 3D; 3D-Side then produces guides that transfer the plan to the operating table.

Features

  • 3D-Arthro Ankle: automatic segmentation of the tibia, talus, calcaneus, navicular and fibula; alignment planning that combines non-weight-bearing CT with standing radiographs; a single hybrid guide for the tibia and talus with integrated pin holes, captured cutting slots and metal drill sleeves. The planning is configured for each implant system, following its manufacturer’s guidelines and component libraries; Lavender Medical will confirm which total ankle systems are available.
  • 3D-Cut (knee and foot osteotomy): cutting guides for the osteotomy, with optional alignment guides for the final bone position; supplied with an anatomical model of the patient’s bone.
  • 3D-Cut is a class IIa custom-made medical device in Europe. 3D-Side is certified to ISO 13485.

Lead times and imaging protocols depend on the case: contact us before scheduling.

Applications

Knee osteotomy

  • Opening and closing wedge high tibial osteotomy, including biplanar corrections.
  • Distal femoral osteotomy.
  • Tibial plateau anatomy restoration.

Foot and ankle

  • Total ankle arthroplasty: planning and a combined tibial and talar guide (3D-Arthro Ankle).
  • Corrective osteotomy, including resection of tarsal coalition (3D-Cut).

Indications, contraindications, warnings and precautions are listed in the instructions for use (IFU).

How it works

  1. Imaging. The patient’s scan is uploaded to the 3D-Side web platform and segmented.
  2. Planning. The surgeon reviews and validates the plan in a 3D viewer with a 3D-Side engineer.
  3. Manufacture. The guide is designed from the validated plan and manufactured, with an anatomical model for reference.
  4. Surgery. The guide is positioned on the bone, fixed with K-wires and used to direct the drill and saw as planned.
