Displaced intra-articular calcaneal fractures can be fixed through small incisions as an alternative to an extensile lateral approach, with the aim of limiting soft-tissue complications.
C-NAIL is an intramedullary nail that holds the four to five main fragments of the calcaneus together with up to seven interlocking screws. It is indicated for intra-articular fractures (Sanders I to IV), joint-depression and tongue-type, and for extra-articular fractures.
Bone graft substitutes, AktiBone bioactive glass and MBCP biphasic calcium phosphate, can be used to fill bone defects after reduction.
Also known as: Calcaneus fracture fixation, Intra-articular calcaneal fracture, Minimally invasive calcaneal fracture fixation, Calcaneal nail
