Biofix™-NP is a low-profile, anatomically contoured titanium locking plate for high tibial osteotomy. The plate is not side-specific and is fixed with locking head screws; selected holes accept variable-angle screws up to 15° off-centre. Three plate versions cover high tibial osteotomy alone, combined with ACL reconstruction, or combined with medial meniscus posterior root repair.

Features

  • Anatomically contoured low-profile plate, reducing the need for intra-operative contouring and limiting hardware prominence
  • Tapered, bevelled plate end for minimally invasive insertion
  • Solid mid-section to support the osteotomy gap
  • Not side-specific: one plate for the left or right tibia
  • Locking head screws give angular stability
  • Spacers maintain a gap between the plate and the periosteum and pes tendons, preserving vascularity and limiting pes irritation
  • Variable-angle holes allow screws to be redirected up to 15° off-centre without affecting the locking performance of that screw
  • Screw holes are numbered A–D proximal and 1–4 distal to the osteotomy; the fixed-angle holes A, B and C direct the screws distally, away from the joint
  • Holes D and 1 are variable-angle in all three plates: hole D allows the screw to be directed as needed in the small proximal segment, and hole 1 allows a hinge compression cortex screw to be placed and later exchanged for a locking head screw at a different angle
  • The ACL plate (Cat. No. 10162) has an additional variable-angle hole B, to avoid tunnel coalition between the ACL tibial tunnel and the screw
  • The meniscal root plate (Cat. No. 10163) has additional variable-angle holes A and C, to avoid tunnel coalition between the trans-tibial repair tunnel and the screw
  • Material: titanium

Indications

Three plate versions address three indications:

  • High tibial osteotomy
  • ACL reconstruction with high tibial osteotomy
  • Medial meniscus posterior root repair with high tibial osteotomy

Indications, contraindications, warnings and precautions are listed in the instructions for use (IFU).
