IO FiX 2.0 – Intraosseous Fixation System

Overview

IO FiX 2.0 is a two-part, zero-profile intraosseous fixation system from Extremity Medical for arthrodesis, osteotomy and fracture fixation in the foot and ankle. An X-Post, a metallic bone bridge, is seated in one bone; a lag screw is passed across the joint and either locks into the X-Post at a fixed 60° by a Morse taper or, as a headed non-locking screw, lags against it. The construct sits entirely within the bone, so there is no plate on the bone surface and no hardware to bend.

Implants

• X-Posts: Small (aqua; 4.5 mm major, 3.0 mm minor diameter; 15 to 30 mm) and Medium (blue; 6.5 mm major, 4.5 mm minor diameter; 20 to 30 mm), both at 60°.
• Tapered locking screws: Ø4.3 mm (2.8 mm minor diameter) and Ø5.0 mm (3.4 mm minor diameter), 26 to 40 mm in 2 mm steps, plus 45 and 50 mm; thread length 15 mm. Both work with either X-Post.
• Low-profile headed screws (non-locking): Ø4.5 mm (3.0 mm minor diameter), same lengths, with a 26° cone of angulation when used with the X-Post; can also be used on their own.
