The 7.0ChLP ankle arthrodesis plates are anatomically shaped titanium locking plates for tibiotalar (TT) and tibiotalocalcaneal (TTC) fusion. They are part of the ChM 7.0ChLP locked plating system, used with its locking and non-locking screws.

Six plate types cover anterior, anterolateral, lateral and posterior approaches. Distal screws are anatomically directed into the talus and calcaneus, and an inclined compression screw compresses the ankle joint.

Features

  • Six plate types: lateral TT and TTC, anterolateral TT, posterior TT and TTC, and minimally invasive anterior TT plates, in different lengths.
  • Anatomical profile, to reduce plate shaping in theatre.
  • Anatomically directed, divergent distal screws, with pre-defined directions to avoid collisions.
  • Inclined compression screw for compression of the ankle joint.
  • Locking holes in which the screw heads do not protrude above the plate.
  • Oblong compression holes for plate positioning and compression in two directions.
  • Oval K-wire holes for provisional fixation and compression without losing the plate position.
  • Chamfered borders, undercuts beneath the shaft to limit bone contact, and a bevelled tip for percutaneous insertion.

Indications

Ankle arthrodesis, including tibiotalar (TT) and tibiotalocalcaneal (TTC) arthrodesis, with the possibility of osteotomy or fracture fixation of the distal tibia, talus and calcaneus.

Read the instructions for use (ifu.chm.eu) for contraindications, side effects and warnings.

Plate types

Six locking plate types, for three approaches, in different lengths:

  • Anterior: minimally invasive anterior TT plate.
  • Anterolateral: anterolateral TT plates, left and right, which can be inserted percutaneously with a plate targeter.
  • Lateral: lateral TT and TTC plates, left and right.
  • Posterior: posterior TT and TTC plates, left and right.

Every plate type allows screws into each of the fused bones. The choice depends on bone quality, associated bone and periarticular damage, the patient's anatomy and the surgeon's preference.

Screws

The plates are part of the ChM 7.0ChLP locked plating system and take:

  • 7.0ChLP self-tapping locking screws, Ø 5.0 mm (16–110 mm);
  • cortical self-tapping screws, Ø 4.5 mm (16–110 mm);
  • 7.0ChLP conical cancellous screws, Ø 5.4 mm (30–95 mm), for the inclined compression screw.

Sizes and ordering

Plates and screws are titanium. Codes are from the ChM surgical technique (ST/80-705, rev. P-000, 2022-05). The anterior plate is used on either side. Please confirm availability with Lavender Medical.

Product information

What are the plates made of?

Titanium or titanium alloy, to ISO 5832 standards.

How is the ankle joint compressed?

Through an inclined compression screw across the joint, and through oblong compression holes that allow compression in two directions.

Do the screw heads sit proud of the plate?

No. The locking hole design keeps the screw heads from protruding above the plate surface, to reduce soft-tissue irritation.

Can the plates be bent?

The shaft of the plate may be shaped as described in the instructions for use, but not when the plate is used with the targeter.

Where can I find the order codes and surgical technique?

The plate and screw codes are listed under Sizes & ordering, from the ChM surgical technique (ST/80-705). The surgical technique and the brochure can be downloaded from this page.
