The TriWay® TibioTaloCalcaneal (TTC) Arthrodesis System is a solid intramedullary nail with an anatomical 7° posterior offset, used for tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis with multiplanar fixation. The nail is inserted with a cannulated instrument and reaming system and a radiolucent targeting guide, which includes an aiming guide for the subtalar compression screw.
An IBS® 6.5 mm Compression Screw placed through the subtalar joint and through the Nail is required.
Features
- Solid nail, with a cannulated instrument and reaming system for insertion.
- Anatomical 7° posterior offset, designed for purchase in the calcaneus.
- Multiplanar fixation: medio-lateral and postero-anterior.
- 5.0 mm titanium cotter screws (25 to 90 mm) and 5.0 mm headed screws for proximal tibial fixation.
- Left and right nails, 10, 11 and 12 mm in diameter and 160 to 250 mm long.
- Radiolucent targeting guide with an aiming guide for the subtalar compression screw.
Indications
Tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis and treatment of trauma to the hindfoot and distal tibia. Examples include:
- post-traumatic and degenerative arthritis involving both the ankle and subtalar joints;
- rheumatoid arthritis with severe deformity;
- revision of failed ankle arthrodesis with subtalar involvement or insufficient talar body;
- revision of failed total ankle arthroplasty with subtalar intrusion;
- talar deficiency, including avascular necrosis (requiring tibiocalcaneal arthrodesis);
- neuropathic or neuromuscular deformity or instability of the ankle, including Charcot foot;
- severe pilon fractures with trauma to the subtalar joint, and malunited tibial pilon fractures.
An IBS® 6.5 mm compression screw through the subtalar joint and through the nail is required.
Contraindications
Current or past acute or chronic systemic inflammation; active infection; sensitivity or allergy to the implant materials; bone pathologies that may compromise the rigidity of fixation (e.g. osteoporosis, acute cystic developments, acute osteopenia, bone tumour).
